David Drebin crafts a vision in his Limited Edition Artworks that essentially conveys the blur between who we are and who we desire to be, which is essentially the dream.
Mysterious, glimmering just beyond our reach, then vanishes soon as we get up.
Drebin put down his camera for his newest and possibly most difficult initiative, asking himself, “How can I help others uncover their amazing abilities?” He then walked into Manhattan’s Washington Square Park with a straightforward message that he came across by chance:
Read for Free: Who You Really Are.
Here are no tricks, no decks of tarot cards. Simply telling someone what he perceives by staring into their eyes.
To believe you can identify someone at first sight requires confidence. However, it takes guts to let a total stranger tell you who you truly are and to acknowledge their accuracy. Do you believe that I am who I am? No, you don’t! But how are you aware of that? How should I proceed? Drebin’s nerves hit an emotional note with this initiative. Offering yourself to a complete stranger is one thing; seeing directly into their eyes is quite another.
Drebin confronts and is faced, seduces and is seduced, discloses and comes out in an experience that is both similar to and unlike that of photographer and subject. For even as Drebin discovers your true self, he is discovering his own identity as an artist.
