Many wonder if Montenegro lives up to its reputation as one of Europe’s top travel destinations. Montenegro’s stunning Adriatic coast, majestic mountains, and rich cultural heritage have captured the attention of tourists worldwide.

Summer in Montenegro means long sunny days, warm weather, and a lot of sunshine. We were fortunate to spend the entire summer as digital nomads in the Bay of Kotor. This experience solidified my love of this country and its scenery.

Montenegro offers excellent hiking and rafting in its mountainous regions, including Biogradska Gora and Tara Canyon. However, be prepared to see more people, especially at popular tourist spots. It’s peak season so places will be crowded and more expensive.

Montenegro is the perfect destination if you want to swim in the Adriatic Sea and enjoy the bars, restaurants, and shops that are open during summer.

4  Best Places to Visit This Summer

To give you a few options for your summer vacation in Montenegro, I have some other suggestions:

Tivat

The beach known as Plavi Horizonti, or Blue Horizons (also called), is the most treasured part of this coastal destination. It is distinguished by its natural beauty and turquoise water.

You will return home with positive energy and a sandy beach. Kukoljina, Beltane, Regina, and Seljanovo are also popular tourist beaches.

Finding transportation can be challenging during summer in Montenegro, particularly in popular destinations like Tivat. When hiring a taxi in Tivat, be selective when selecting the driver.

Many independent operators may not have set rates, leading to possible overcharging from drivers who do not speak the local language and overcharging tourists without their knowledge. For an enjoyable and cost-effective experience, it is advised that tourists book their taxis in advance through a reliable company.

Budva

Budva Montenegro is a coastal hotspot for summer with its beautiful beaches, vibrant nightlife, and lively atmosphere. You should head here to kick off the summer in style. While Jaz Beach is popular during the summer with the Sea Dance Festival, Mogren is an ‘entertaining beach’ where two beaches are linked through a small tunnel.

Budva can be an unforgiving tourist trap. Finding an adequate taxi in Budva can be difficult when many visitors don’t know how to identify licensed drivers and avoid being overcharged. For a smooth experience, try using reliable online booking services at fixed rates.

Budva Riviera, Montenegro, offers tranquility. You can walk to the lighthouse and enjoy the view of the still waters. The city has its fair share of fortresses, galleries, and history. The Budva Citadel, which has a stunning view of the Riviera, or Stari Grad, with its Venetian walled and marbled streets, is a great place to explore this city’s cultural and historical aspects.

Sveti Stefan

Sveti Stefan, Montenegro, is an exclusive island resort located near Budva. It’s a popular summer destination for its luxurious accommodations and pink-sanded beaches. It’s one of the few beaches on the Montenegro coastline with a sandy surface.

This tiny island looks like a medieval village and has some of the best views in the country. It used to be a fishing village, but now it is a seaside resort. You can book a table in the restaurant and enjoy the view while enjoying some seafood. You can also visit the Praskvica monastery and its four churches or head to Sveti Nikola island, which has many beaches.

Kolasin

Kolasin is situated in northern Montenegro in the Bjelasica Mountains. It is about halfway between the capital of Podgorica and the border with Serbia. Kolasin is approximately 90 km from Podgorica and 35 km from Serbia.

If you are a sun-lover and an outdoor adventurer, the months from May to September will be perfect for you. Imagine hiking through a lush forest, enjoying a refreshing swim in the glacial lakes of Biogradska Gora, or rafting the crystal clear waters of the Tara River. When you’re not out exploring, relax in your cozy cabin, enjoy a glass or two of wine and read a book, or visit the local restaurants and bars for delicious Montenegrin food.

Summer in Montenegro offers a unique experience with its sandy beaches and rugged terrain. Here is a small sample of the wonderful sights you will see when visiting this country. You can keep yourself occupied with many other national parks, beaches, and similar attractions during your entire stay.

The pleasant climate allows you to enjoy the views and explore this beautiful country without any problems. Plan your trip to Europe and enjoy a tour of this amazing land in your Montenegro summer vacation!
